Sure Torque Inc. (STI) readies for the trade show circuit.
March 18 2004--Sure Torque Inc. of Sarasota, Florida, like so many other manufacturers of packaging machinery and quality control testing equipment for the packaging industry, is preparing for another show packed season.
Most people don't realize that this world of sales goes on in their cities. When 25,000 buyers turn up to look at the products of 1000 vendors in the local civic centers. When decisions are made involving millions on the spot and many millions for the future.
"This is the meat and potatoes," says Steve Pearson of Sure Torque, a manufacture of precision torque testing and application machinery.
You can advertise, call, mail, but until you can get that customer to see, touch and operate that piece of equipment, you cant be doing your job. That is the beauty of trade shows.
Trade shows are expensive. Booth space, advertising show displays, equipment, transportation, freight it all adds up to a frightful amount. A small booth in a show can total out to cost you $5,000 or more and many companies spend big, $30 to $80,000 on one show.
Rarely do you see returns at the show. You work you leads for the next year, sometimes two, building the new relationships with your customers, cultivating them into sales.
And it's a tough hard schedule. Sure Torque just finished up West pack in Anaheim California, Clean Rooms in Orlando Florida, then its on to, EastPack, for June 15-17 in New York's Javits center. Is it worth it? EastPack is expected to attract as many as 1,700 exhibitors and 32,000 buyers, so in Steve's opinion, yes.
Then pack up again and its on to Minneapolis and MidPak October 29-30, a smaller show at the Minneapolis Convention Center, still expected to attract nearly 700 exhibitors and 6,500 OEM buyers.
On to PACK EXPO International November 7-11, 2004 at Chicago's McCormick Place. More than 1,600 exhibitors utilizing 1.2 million net square feet of exhibit space. "The Big Show". Expecting over 47,000 decision makers and buyers, including 6,000 international visitors from more than 70 countries. This is the place to be.
A break for Christmas and then back on the road for WestPack in Anaheim again on January 10, 2005
All this for cap torque testers, Machines to test syringes, luer tester, capping machines. Is it that important? Sure Torques customers seem to think so. Customers like Abbott Labs, Boehringer, Schering, Pfizer, Kraft, Coca-Cola and Dial keep showing up to see the latest Sure Torque products.
